WHAT IS AN AUDIOLOGIST?

An Audiologist is a health-care professional specializing in identifying, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring disorders of the auditory and vestibular systems for people of all ages. Audiologists are professionals trained to expertly diagnose, manage, and treat hearing loss with the prescribing, fitting, and personalization of hearing aids. Audiologists treat certain vestibular disorders of the inner ear such as BPPV. Audiologists provide custom earplugs and other hearing protection devices for the prevention of hearing loss.
Audiologists have training in anatomy and physiology, hearing aids, cochlear implants, electrophysiology, acoustics, psychophysics, neurology, and counseling. An audiologist graduates with one of the following qualifications (MSc, MCD (audiology), AuD, PhD, or ScD), depending on the program, and country attended and hold a national and state license.
